How much time should I give a spike to go away?

In tree. Been grunting every 30 minutes and the same spike keep coming. No sign of other deer. Hoping for 6 pts. How long should i wait or is this sign spike the only one in area?

It’s the rut, things can happen in a heartbeat. Deer definitely don’t always come to a grunt. Not even often.

I gave this little fella about a 5 second thought yesterday when I walked up on him. Then it hit me that I was only about 200 yards from my truck right up the access path. Yep, he’s now burger and steak sitting in my freezer. Had my saddle on but still had another 3/4 mile walk before I was planning to hang, so I guess not technically my “first saddle kill” but still fun all the less.

He finally stop showing up. How can i tell if he just got bored or blew my spot and I should try another location? Thinking of doing that noon if i dont see anything.

Isn't it squirrel season in MD now?

Yeah, but I'm on public land that reserved for whitetail only. I guess it could be adjointing private lands. Hope so.

Spike finally decided to stop showing up after I decided to kill him....oh well. Trying again next week. Hope everyone had success!
