How to fix noisy buckles on my Kestrel

Hey all,

So I noticed while walking with my Kestrel the buckles that fasten around the inner thighs seem to raddle. Thought I heard on here somewhere that they can somehow be modified (ie rubber tubing, etc)?

Thought about removing them but not sure if it’s safe to do so. I’m open to any ideas.

I cut up some old beer koozies and sewed them up to size. Seems to work well

Personally I'll admit that I cut mine off, I just couldn't see myself hunting the way I hunt with that rattle. Imo If you keep the waist belt somewhat tight it's impossible to fall out of the kestrel.

I climb with an XOP climber top and I need the leg straps to hang on the side of the tree to adjust the traction belt. Without them saddle would be under my arms and would not be a good scrape to be in. I keep them buckled but not on my legs till I get to the tree I want to climb then put around my legs. Haven’t had a noise problem that I can hear yet. I bought a set of neoprene covers anticipating noise but have never installed them.

Let me know if you don’t want those neoprene covers

Here's a couple of pics20180526_140907.jpg 20180526_140927.jpg of what I would use if I would walk in with my Kestrel on. They were covers for my loggy bayou hang on stands .they covered the ratchet strap .

I got no clue. Don't know the cat personally I just saw the thread and thought I'd share his name with you in case you hadn't seen it. I noticed mine rattle sometimes when I walk through the woods but I just snug them up tight and it stops all that. My hand drill makes more noise when I'm drilling a tree then those buckles do walking in and I've had deer walk under me 15 minutes after I finished drilling a tree and got set. Honestly I don't even worry about the leg straps on my Kestrel and would cut them off but I hate the butcher to saddle and besides I want to leave them on in case my daughter uses it just for safety reasons. I guess you could shoot him a personal message and see if you can get ahold of him that way.
Yeah man when’s he making more?

Thanks man. I’ve considered doing the same with my straps but hate to butcher it as well. I’ll mess with them some more.

I believe I’ve posted on that same thread but haven’t heard a reply yet so who knows.

Thanks again

@bigjoe commented earlier in this thread about that bicycle inner tubes. I would probably give that a shot if I was really concerned about it. You can pick them up Walmart for pretty cheap they're easy to find me just cut them with a pair of scissors

Cheap and easy answer right there. What size tubing?

IDK. I would just measure the buckle and then just pull a inner tube out of the box and see which one fits. If I had to guess it would probably be the standard size for a bmx size tire or even a mountain bike I don't know that's the diameters are much different. But considering that the rubber they should stretch pretty easy.
