How to tie off with rope mods

Brand new to saddle hunting NEXT season. I'm trying to learn, and gather equipment, to be ready by then. My question pertains to the rope mod on Hawk helium sticks. I plan on using 8mm static rope. Could someone carefully explain or show a video on how to wrap the ropes around the versa button. I've watched several YouTube videos on the subject and they seemed to do it different ways. Some wrap the rope underneath the button and others go over the top. Going underneath makes the most sense to me but what do I know. If someone could explain or demonstrate it, I would appreciate that.

I am not rigged up for a video but I have always gone underneath and behind the rope already on the button. I make one full turn that way and then loop behind and tie a half hitch.

Left is the loop around the button that is then the rope, I will call it standing end 1. The free end is working end.

Bring working end around tree, tuck working end from below under the standing end 1 and also the button. This will cause a friction lock once weight is applied. The part to the right (by the way, left and right are arbitrary here, you can do it either way) is now standing end 2 where it meets the stick. Take working end above the button tuck it behind standing ending 2 and button. This is your 2nd friction lock.

Now just keep the free working end from going anywhere. You can do that by bringing it back to the left and tying 2 half hitches. If you do everything tight, then the half hitches will not be engaged much at all.

From an overview perspective, see how tension on the rope due to your weight can lock it down on both sides by going behind the rope. I doubt starting by going below or above the button matters, but the convention is to start from below.

Watch YouTube video of Dave Toms method. Has never failed me
