Well; the trigger has been pulled! Cruzr XC kit and lone wolf sticks coming my way! I found some sticks sold privately that I just have to get one day (3 hours from me) and the Xc saddle will be shipped. I’ll probably get nailed on duty but I’m happy to be joining the club. Now I’m just working on the platform. :sunglasses: Public land mule and whitetail deer in British Columbia won’t know what hit em.

Four local guys I know went to Illinois, $5k a piece, they came home with hemorrhoids and hurt feelings, finished there season off in ladder stands behind there house on crotch horns, being mobile with a saddle my season never ends until I want it to, your money is being well spent on a method that will provide years of service versus $5k for 7 days of hope and maybe it will happen, I say spend away if it enables you to hunt harder and longer, now is the perfect time to get ready, have fun and good luck!!

Welcome to the club. From what I see on here, a person might as well spend the money up front to get quality stuff. It seems a lot of people, myself included, started off buying cheap stuff just to get into the saddle game, but ends up slowly acquiring better stuff as they get deeper in, thus buying the same gear twice.

Hemorrhoids? Yikes, what part of the hunt caused that?!

I feel like $1000-$2000 is where the majority of people will end up. Less is easily doable. More is easily doable.
Less is doable if you have perfect foresight or get lucky. I did a fair amount of research and my first set of complete gear for saddle hunting was totally serviceable. However, there were parts that I wasn't satisfied with.

I think you can get 70% or so there pretty quickly. It's the fine tuning on the balance that really adds up.

Be careful about setting your drink down around those guys.

Welcome to the forum. It is a little pricey but the experience and the meat you get out it is worth it. I got two does this year and calculated out, gear cost per pound it was ONLY $234/pound of meat. So worth it.

Wow, we are turning into AT. I made a joke that you thought you had just spent a lot, then hemorrhoids pops up and guys start insulting other hunting practices. Just like any new hobby, you are going to get excited about it and then you NEED this and that. Those $20 or even $100 whim purchases add up. Enjoy the sport/hobby.

Harder, longer. The long trail hiking community has a saying “The last person to finish the trail wins.” Same thing with hunting....

I couldn’t agree more. Well said.

Just whittle your own sticks and bow and stand. Vines work well if done properly for stick mods. Pine cone for versa button, deer hide for pack, intestines for lineman’s belt and feather. Should be under a hundred bucks.
