This version is just proof of concept. The production version will, of course, be Amsteel with a spliced eye and a whoopie sling for a limited-time pre-sale discount price of only $99. :grinning: Or you could just make your own…

Tie a loop in one end of some light cord and girth hitch it to your gear strap. Then make a larger loop in the other end and tie a slip knot of some kind. Open your book to the half way point, insert into big loop, and cinch the loop around the spine. I like to set it so that it’s right at reading height, so if a deer comes in, I can just let go and it dangles there without making any noise.

That’s a good book too. Try Into Thin Air by Krakauer also.

I read the magazine article, but I haven’t read the book yet. I look forward to it. I love pretty much everything I’ve ever read by Krakauer.

Nice. What pack you running with them books?

That’s a HPG Umlindi with a DIY version of Kifaru’s Chamber Pocket that hangs on some grimloc carabiners and slides into the back sleeve. The Umlindis are basically without any organization, so that pocket holds my grunt tube, estrus bleat, face mask and gloves all together, and I can easily remove it to use the pack as a hiking day pack.

For all day sits and more than one book, I usually take my Kifaru 26” tactical frame. :sob:

I’ve done the same with heavy fishing line. Just wrap it around the book in my bag and attach it to the tether when I start reading.

I’m re-reading the series A Song Of Ice and Fire by George RR Martin now. Really probably do need Amsteel for those later volumes. Total bricks of paper.

Brilliant, I'll be doing the same thing. I think I'll leave the tag end on the book long enough to use as a bookmark as well.

What a great group. I appreciate that we can even discuss the perfection of different knots and suspension systems even as they pertain to reading in the stand. :)
