I used to write a fair amount of code, so I know how many coders want to justify their existence by making dumb changes maybe based upon a focus group of 12 year olds and old ladies. Adding new features is actually much easier than improving existing code.

Well the mute button no longer actually mutes. You have to unlock the phone and turn down volume also. Well the latest helpful change is that you have to mute each application.

I’m in a tree and did the bad thing and was reading this forum. Mute button on and volume turned down. In the thread a YouTube video was embedded. The phone started playing it full volume without me even clicking on it. While it was playing I was then able to turn the volume down on YouTube. I was shocked for a second like someone was in the woods talking to me.

Who in their right mind thinks it is a good idea to overcomplicate a dang mute button?

That is awful. Did that just happen with the 14.8.1 update?

I'm not sure. At home now, saw a doe in the woods. She gave me the stink eye like I'm an old fogy that can't work a phone.

I'd test it out at home to see if yours does it too.

Mute everything and then try to play a youtube video, maybe.

I place mine on vibrate, and turn the volume all the way down.....never had a issue and I get alerts for the fire department everyday.
