Is jx3 alot better then the Guido's web ?

Guidos web.
Been using for 5+ years.
Got a JX3 in trade,
Sold it that night.

If you hunt a lot in hot weather - Guido's won't work.

If you intend to pack a lot of weight - the guido's isn't really suited for it.

If you want to climb with the seat folded up behind you while maintaining functional lineman's belt - the guido's won't work.

If you want an adjustable fork - you'll have to modify the guido's, or you won't have it.

Essentially, if you want the above features, you need a JX3. If you can tolerate not having them, and want to save some dough in the process, get a guido's. It was the first saddle I owned, and I loved it. Until I met the JX3. I kept my Guido's until I got a full season on the hybrid (as a backup).

I have since sold the guido's and have a second hybrid. Sentiments aside, I don't miss the web.

But your budget is your budget. Get what suits you.

I had both. The JX3 is much more user friendly. It can be used as a turkey chair on the ground or in a tree. ( that alone was worth the price to me ) It can be used to haul your deer or turkey out and has attachment points galore. It's almost not fair to compare the two together. I sold the Web.

JX 3. Is greater. The easiest way to stay very still in the tree

I started saddle hunting with a Gudio's and it's still my #1 choice. Owned a JX3 last year and sold it after tagging out in early Nov. I may buy another at some point. I wouldn't say one is better than the other, they are different enough to have their specific niche. I think @kyler1945 hits on the main points.

Of the two, I prefer the Guido's for my style and purposes, and pair it with a "soft saddle" (H2) for early season.

If you hunt a lot in hot weather - Guido's won't work. Definitely, I won't use mine until its below 60 degrees. It's soft saddle until then.

If you intend to pack a lot of weight - the guido's isn't really suited for it. Agreed, I would not use the Guido like a frame pack. However, I can fit up to 12 WE stepps (usually carry 8), water bottle, small fanny pack, and extra clothing inbetween the back and seat when folded up. I would not pack out meat with it.

If you want to climb with the seat folded up behind you while maintaining functional lineman's belt - the guido's won't work. Yep, if you don't like the seat down when climbing, definitely go with the JX3. I did find the Guido's lineman loops much easier to access with heavy clothing. The JX3's sit back on your hips.

If you want an adjustable fork - you'll have to modify the guido's, or you won't have it. Yep, the adjustability was great on the JX3. The fork on my Medium Guido was just about perfect length, it's a little long on the Large. I always ended up keeping the JX3's fork all the way in.

With everything stated above, what are the reasons to have any preference for the GW? Just curious, and I’m about 7 hunts into getting to know the JX3...

I’ve owned both and I sold my Guido‘s web within one week of owning it. The JX3 Hybrid will never get sold. It is the only Stand I hunt out of now.

I have never used JX3. Guido's web is comfortable (one of only two stands i have fallen asleep in). I used my first GW 2012. They were the only thing when trophyline disappeared. Whale tale was easy on the knees. Geat adjustible low back support. Lots of innovations, covers on metal parts. The difference between the first one i owned 2012 and the one i bought in 2017 as he was closing shop were big. I also preferred the tethers that he developed at the end, no need for prussics, and never had one slip. Hunted in the heat was a sweat fest. Bought New tribe, and only use guido when my back or knees bothered me to much, on a preset, generally gun season. I used it with lw sticks when mobile. Just not as easy to be mobile. The weight of the newer stuff (like new tribe) makes mobile easier.

I prefer the GW, but only by a small margin. I've spoken with John a couple times and believe he's done a fantastic job with the JX3. I'm excited to see what future updates he has in-store.

With that said, my reasons are:
  • GW is almost half the cost. I believe they are both priced appropriately.
  • I find the GW seat more comfortable. I tended to slide around in the JX3, found the material slippery, and the seat larger than I'd like.
  • In the JX3, while hanging, the back (frame pack) section would hang up on the rear of the seat. It had to sit either on top of the back edge or off and behind the edge. GW is designed differently and does not. It was enough of an annoyance to make an impression on me.
  • I had a difficult time with the JX3 lineman loops in winter clothing. They sat too far back on my hips and the waist belt would "disappear" under my jacket. They can also be difficult to access once you tether in and sit down.
  • I prefer the one handed recline adjustment on the GW.
  • I do not need to pack out my animals.
  • I use a soft saddle in hot weather.
  • I do not sit on the ground. It's either in tree or stalking.

Ok yep I agree with the observations above, I still don’t know if it’s more correct to have the seat back locked in or sliding on the seat but I tend to have it resting on top more often. But yes the difference in those two positions can be a little annoying, and it changes where you set the reclining straps. I’m 170 so the seats a little bigger than I need, doesn’t exactly fit like a glove, but I understand it’s gotta fit bigger guys as well, and it wasn’t as oversized as I expected. I do get just a little discomfort on the undersides of my legs where the front of the seat frame is. But I just attached a 3/4” foam pad to the seat surface removable with elastic shock cord, since the weather is getting cold, I’m kind of excited about that keeping me warm and it seems to make the seat even more comfortable, we’ll see how that works in the tree. After a half dozen sits I do still see the Jx3 as my go to option. One other thing to mention tho, no matter how high I put the tether, weak side shots seem a near impossibility, I have to be very attentive to positioning to strong side. I plan to tether as high as I can possibly reach next time, because I do get noticeable restriction as I swing to the left, and especially with my bag on the tree to the right, that side just feels impossible. I think I’d have to give the nod to overall shot options, to my hang on. Will keep practicing. Also I’m now wearing an rc harness with it, since I want fall protection I can trust. I tether to that on the way up, and connect it to a girth hitched lineman’s while I sit. Overall a fantastic, but not perfect, product.

Have both, only have 4 hunts on the jx3 so opinions might change as I get some more sit time in the jx3..
They are both very comfortable, but I think the soft cushion seat on the web is just a tad more comfortable for me.
As far as the use and climbing the tree the jx3 blows the web out of the water its not even a comparison, the linesman loops on the GW where attached where the bridge attaches and they are never in the same spot when your climbing which sucked when transitioning from 1 rope to another for going around limbs.

The jx3 is heavier by a touch but because its built on a frame pack you can not feel the weight at all. I Put 3 1/2 miles on the jx3 yesterday and dont think it was any more difficult than wearing my kite in with my day pack with the rest of my junk.
