Hey folks,

Just wondering if there is a comprehensive list that has been compiled of all knots, hitches, loops, etc that are commonly used by saddle hunters? I've looked at a few different knots, like the prusik, Cornell, munter, swabhisch, but have only tried the prusik. Oh and the girth hitch.

Also, any special equipment that is needed to tie such hitches/knots? For example, I ordered some accessory cord to tie a Cornell, but apparently the piece of cord needs loops in the end. So it's not just a straight piece of cord. Like how a prusik is a loop of cord.

Any examples of how each knot/hitch can be used?

As you will see in that thread, @Brocky is our comprehensive list.

Hey brother. Welcome to the club. I have some resources on my website that might benefit you. Links below. I don't have a comprehensive list of knots, and creating one would be a big endeavor. You actually don't need many... you need a few... and as you find something better, you simply replace the one you have. For example, my favorite friction hitch has changed 10 times in 12 years.... Bachmann, Distel, Michoacán, and now preferring my original knots, like Agile, Longhorn Agile and JRB Ascender, but not because I devised them, simply because they perform better. I also advise you to ensure that anything you use in a life safety application is well rehearsed. You don't really need to tie anything in the woods. If you have any specific questions, let me know.
