Cancel culture (or call-out culture) is a modern form of ostracism in which someone is thrust out of social or professional circles - either online on social media, in the real world, or both. Those who are subject to this ostracism are said to be "canceled."

Everyone has the right to freedom of expression. This right shall include freedom to hold opinions and to receive and impart information and ideas without interference by public authority and regardless of frontiers.
I know which I prefer. This site is great, whatever your opinion. And I am free to politely say it is a great or stupid opinion. I guess I am getting a hate toward twitter, for its thought control, say no to thought control.
No one wants to de-platform or block someone from the site in this instance. They are asking how they can "ignore" them so that they don't see their posts and replies to them but others can see them etc. To me, this is world's away from wanting to eject them from the site or take away their ability to express themselves. It is more similar to not liking a certain website and therefore choosing not to visit that website because you don't want to see what they have to say OR ignoring a phone call from the guy at work that bugs you.
Forums are more harmonious if people use the ignore function instead of arguing with a person that they happen to butt heads with. I know we could argue some "better person and compromise and learn from those you disagree with", but it just doesn't have to be the case in all instances and isn't gonna happen that much. My experience is that once you start not responding to some folks that they begin to nettle you because they want a reaction and can't stand to be ignored....you have to then ignore them until they enter some sort of "acceptance and helplessness" phase.
EDIT: I write all that as someone that is totally against the current cancel culture and believe it is dangerous to society.
