Is this biner scratched or cracked?

Noticed it on my last hunt of the season. It's the tree tether carabiner and on the inside part. I think scratch, but can't imagine how it could have happed.

I'm replacing it regardless, but wanted to let the vendor know if it's actually cracked.20240102_095722.jpg
 
I vote scratched. The retaining ring just rotated a little so the crease doesn't line up. Can you look down in the gate and see if it continues?

Edit: sorry about auto correct. I swear this "smart" phone gets exponentially dumber with each letter I type. It's going to be a bad as the guy running it here any time now

One thing I was taught with M16s, is to put a drop of oil on my finger and wipe the extractor. If there is an invisible crack, the oil will seep into it, and you'll be able to pick that up. You might try to wipe some oil on it and see if capillary action draws any oil in. But, "when in doubt, toss it out" is superior advice, especially if Latitude has already replaced it. Use it for your keys or something.
