10.5mm-13mmCareful! That's for fat rope
I was going by what it said on the side off the rope grab. The main problem with the ropemans in general is theyre not recommended to be used as a primary life support device, and i wouldnt recommend it as a primary fall protection device either. Those companies play loose with their inches to mm conversions... 7/16" is over 11mm. 11mm rope is generally said to be 7/16"
Ropeman 1 is rated for 10mm-13mm. It's nice to be in the middle of the ratings when you can
Ive hanged from 1 all last season but i backed it up with a hollow block. Problem is i started to realize i could hang solely from the hollow block or prusik cord and be safe and not even need a ropeman to begin with, So its in essence a waste of money to even buy one to begin with if toure just going to back it up anyways. A rope grab like the isc is life support rated and doesnt require a backup. I talked to a rep from treestuff.com and wild country and they both said its a bad idea. So im retiring mine to cargo holds. The smart thing to do with any of these is to backup clip to the end of your tether or to a prusik set below the device. Lots of us have spent many hours hanging from the rope man. I back up.
I agree it is nice to adjust with.WIldcountry told me that is what it is designed for. It is an ascender. But EVERY piece of climbing gear will always say "not to be used as the sole connection"...
The beauty of the Ropeman is the one handed adjustment. I have stood on my platform, holding the tether up with my left hand while taking up the slack. Two hands on a prusik would not be as safe. Same for letting line out. I can hold on to the tree while letting it out.
