It's just...a little crush... - Review of the JX3 Hybrid Saddle

Just made first trip up while 1-sticking with a Muddy Pro with a sewn 1 step aider.

Took some adjusting to mechanics I used with regular saddle, but after that no problems. I found that setting your tether and prussic heights such that you were sitting about even with the top of your stick allowed for reasonable ease in unlocking the Muddy and moving it (in my regular saddle I could reach down further). I tried to get more stretch with my move on the top side of the move if that makes sense. I'm using the method from Cain's video, though I find that moving to the side slightly when you sit keeps you away from stick which helps with uncamming it and moving it.

It's only one climb but I think this is really viable. Keeps stick weight down to 3 lbs and is pretty easy to pack or just carry.

And my goodness this thing is comfortable! Somehow it seems even more so at 25 feet!

Ok, now I've graduated to slipping out of the shoulder straps and adjusting the back rest waaaaaay back! Wow! All I need is a head rest now! Airplane pillow maybe?
Where's the handle for the foot recliner?

Wake me when the beverage cart comes through!

Any of y’all ever ride sport bikes? A tank bag modified to clip to the JX3 would be ideal.
Not a bike rider but sounds interesting.

I'm going to stuff, stash, and attach as many things to the JX3 as I can to avoid the bag altogether. I don't film (yet) so I think I can do it.

I might take a light camo fanny pack I have that used to be my med/survival kit. I could see it holding snacks & water and misc small items. Attach it around tree right in front of me to eat/drink out of and a place to set phone/ereader down, etc. A string bag could work too but seems less useful at height.

My only reason for not taking it running and gunning is I like to use my sling while walking. So far in limited testing I don’t like how the gun/sling and hybrid go together. Where when I’m wearing just my vest nothing gets in the way of sling.

I imagine it would be pretty similar or to rig something up on the frame like mystery ranch sales for their packs. Basically the but stock sits in a pouch the rifle or shotgun would go under your arm and secures to the shoulder strap. It’s pretty quick to deploy.

I took my JX 3 up to The mountains yesterday for a trial run on a hog hunt. After hiking 2 miles in the hogs had not read the script as they were already feeding in the food plot by the time I arrived. I will say this thing packs great. I wedged my day pack and Lonewolf hand climber in between the seat and the back rest and strapped it down tight. I actually put on a spare padded backpack hip belt that I had in my basement and then snapped the JX3 hip belt on top of it. Carried like a dream. This thing will be a game changer for me.

Just got my JX3 Hybrid! First impressions, this is a well thought out/engineered piece of hunting equipment. Seems well built and definitely worth View attachment 12099the money considering it includes LB, Tether, Bridge and (3) quality carabiners. Gotta sit in it to fully evaluate but I can already tell this will probably be my go to for gun hunting and long sits. Quick question for @kyler1945 , @Autumnrider or any JX3 veterans...what is the threaded insert I'm pointing to for? Sorry if somebody already asked this question and I missed it. I'm sure John would answer my question but I didn't want to bother him just yet.
You can get a camera arm to screw in and video

Congratulations on your harvest. I believe that you are going to love the Hybrid. So far, Do you think it's everything that most JX3 owners said it is?

I was only able to try the JX3 for a few minutes down at SaddlePalooza, and then for about 30 minutes in my backyard yesterday morning. I think the JX3 is everything and more than advertised. I am 55 years old and hunt steep mountain terrain on public land. I appreciate more than most that every pound matters. However, Being able to sit for extended periods comfortably and motionless has always been an important part of my success in the field. This is not going to be my late season gun hunt saddle. Rather, this is likely the only saddle that I will use. Whether I’m sitting for two hours, or six hours, why would I not want to be super comfortable at all times. My horn hunter backpack that I have used the past few years weighs 7 pounds empty. The JX3 is just a couple of pounds more and replaced my pack on yesterdays hunt and still carried everything comfortably. This thing is tailor-made for my style of hunting in the mountains.

What is the olive green loop strap on the seat used for? I have a small silver gear clip attached to it in the picture.

When you want to use it has a turkey chair you clip the biner to there and a loop on the bridge. Watch the how to video and Garrett shows you

Amen to this. This is what I have been saying the entire time. I would rather be comfortable and be still then carry 3 pounds lighter and be continuously moving.
