JX-3 Side Pouch / Pack

Great point. I don't bow hunt in that kind of weather, that's when I go for ducks, so wouldn't have thought about that.

I've been using this pack which someone else here recommended. Hang it off the back of the jx3 seat hook and you can still use the single shoulder strap. Doesn't fit my heavy coat but would fit the down stuff great. Any small pack should be just as good. I like the single shoulder strap on this one so that there's no chance of me dropping it while walking/climbing yet it's still easy to grab it from behind me so I can hang it in the tree.

Hadn't though about the sling style pack. I actually have that exact pack in black...somewhere...HA and the bigger version. I"m gonna have to look around for it and give it a try, thanks!

I put them between the seat and frame. If it’s really cold and I’m walking far I will be stopping at base of tree to cool down anyway. I don’t mind unpacking to dress then. If it’s 40-60, I’ll usually stuff them where I can pull out from the side while it’s all still packed and not have to take it off. But i never understood why folks out clothes in packs, or need packs with ‘room for layers’. Strap layers to a pack, or shove them in between in the hybrid. Easy.

Thanks, I used a pack when I used a climber or loc on, but trying to really minimalize what I take into the woods. Just learning to leave the stuff I don't need behind.

I am going to try and just strap the layers in between.

Thanks for the replies.

I here ya--but often I hunt and the weather is nasty. clothes strapped to a bag(sometimes wool, sometimes down) can absorb precipitation and freeze solid--if I'm strapping to anything they have to at least be in stuff sacks for me to be happy I generally dress warm in the legs and cooler on top and pack a patagonia micropuff down as an insulating layer I can add if need be. It packs to the size of a sofball. Personalty I dont like have a bunch of different "sacks" or bags, so a pack that can hold everything has always worked great for me. A fanny pack was solid with the guidos--I"d just grab a larger one when I suspected needing another layer. I plan on either using a fanny pack again wiht the hybrid, or this leach pack, which works great and then can be strapped to the tree in front of me for east access.

The Leech pack is sweet! It works great w my LWCG Ambush and minis and the JX3.

I don’t know if I’ve ever seen a pack recommended for the JX3 that would be large enough to stash layers. From a weight perspective I imagine strapping a dry compress sack to smaller pack, or directly to the JX3 would be your best option. I either strap layers to the sandwiched pack, or add the compress sack in bad weather to keep em dry.

That post is like looking at a picture of your ex-girlfriend with her new beau. Even if you were the one to do the breaking, it still hits you right there.
If you buy me a beer ill let you take her for a spin for old time sake, but you have to give her back afterwords!
