Klein Tree Climbers - talk me into or out of these

How did you like the Evokes? What makes them so much less expensive?

Personally I like the long tree gaffs. They just made me feel safer when climbing, and I normally hunt private land so I'm not worried about tree damage and breaking any laws.
I got them on eBay and they are heavy as hell, which is probably why the low cost. Like I said, the first time using them I would gaff-out on smooth hard trees if the spikes were at a shallow angle (more parallel with the trunk), but didn't have a problem after that first time. The straps are a waxed leather with belt style buckles. The buckles/straps made it hard to cinch the straps tight around my calves...I am getting webbing and side release buckles for them this week though; should eliminate that problem.

G2 outdoors (Greg) from tethrd has an excellent video on youtube of how to modify your gaffs...ck it out

Haha yeah, that would be bad. I got some rubberized keepers for the gaffs, which don't fit the greatest, but at least I wont put holes in the wife's carpet...or my leg. I need some warm weather so I can do all this messin around out of doors.

Bet you are psyched...I am searching for a pair...they can be quite expensive...let us know how the mod works...best of luck

Thanks for all of the feedback so far! I also found these:

Is aluminum worth the premium price? Are they strong enough?
I used steel climbers for 6 years straight every single day for work then a guy retiring gave me a set of aluminum and it is night and day difference go aluminum

Even if its just for a minute climb up to a platform for hunting out of?...maybe carrying them in may be easier but thats a lot of cabbage to save a couple lbs of weight to carry in

I use some just like it and love them.

Hard for me to justify the carbon fiber upgrade at $600. I did upgrade my straps and buckles...

I will say, in the saddle I find it difficult to take them on/off so I wear them the entire hunt. I wrap camo form around them and overlay stealth strips to dampen any metal to metal contact noise.
