Maybe this has been discussed, I’m not sure. Can anyone tell me if the knaider hooks will work directly on to a beast stick step?

A traditional knaider will work on Heliums, dunno about Beast. However, what I have been liking even more is a knaider made our of 2” webbing. Just slide the loop over the step. Very stable.

Nice! Good thinking! I like the idea of no aider on the stick but still being able to get extra distance between sticks.

Very nice! 2" is brilliant. Looks much more stable.

I've been tinkering with my old 2018 knaider from the WE days while using my DIY EWO sticks. 24" sticks become 35-40" sticks.

Make me one?

I got the idea from someone else's post on this forum. I think they did something similar. I can post more detailed pictures, not much to it. Dunno about making them for folks, my skills are not so good.

You didn't cut up that Wraptor I sold you to make a knaider did you? :)

Here is a link to video I made on my metal free Knaider. I really like this system. Sorry that I do not know if the standard knaider hook will work on a beast stick.

Yes! This was the video that inspired me. Thanks for posting. I did end up doubling the layer that loops over the step because Heliums have a very aggressive step. I also made a full length swaider out of 2” webbing, but for now sticking with just the knaider.

Good deal. Glad it helped you out. I too doubled the strap on my next build and it is working great. I am bummed that this system doesn't look to be compatible with Tethrd's new climbing sticks.

Standard knaider hook will work on sticks. The very early ones had a tad smaller hook. The new ones work really well on every stick I have tried them on. Most sticks have steps that are 3/8 inches thick. Measure your step and if it is less than a half inch thick it will work.

Thanks!

I use a Knaider with my sticks. I made it out of a scrap piece of tubular webbing I had laying around and the hook off of a ratchet strap. I threaded the webbing through the hook eye, then tied a knot to make it a continuous loop. I then tied a knot below the hook to keep it in place. After that I added a camping bungee to the end which hooks to my belt. I girth hitch the bottom part around my boot and added 2 knots in the middle to make it the correct length.

WhenI get my first stick up,I attach it to my boot and the bungee to my belt and start climbing. Once I stand above the step that the hook is on the bungee brings the hook with me silently. Works pretty well for scrap materials.
