Knaider/Swaider

I may have to switch to double steps now .

But really, speaking of rappelling, there was a thread that talked about backing up a figure 8 and I can’t seem to find it.
Look up the jcline84 video on YouTube. He does a great job explaining the way he does it. Works perfectly.

I don't. I take mine off and roll them up and toss em into a dump pouch. For me, it makes sense to take them off because I NEVER climb down with aiders. To me, that's the bulk of the danger in climbing. So for me, I rappel each and every time I climb with any sort of aider.

This way nothing gets caught on the way down.
So are you saying you rappel down to each stick and un hook them as you go?

I’m about to order a set of K/S with the coated metal hooks. Looking to eliminate one of my hawk 20” helium sticks.
Have any of you had issues with the hooks not staying on the hawk helium’s?

I use a carbiner with the gate removed wrapped in vet tape for my swaider. Slides over the step easy and I can easiley get 18' with 3 novix minis

I’m using them and use amsteel loops to hook into rather than the step. But I’m also using a novix single step.

I built a knaider and swaider this week and have been out practicing on WE steps. It's amazing. I have some hawk minis I plan to try in the next day or two, but between the hawks and WE I'll gladly carry the steps over 2 or 4 hawks.

The K/S is so much more solid feeling to me than any type of aider I've ever used. No messing around trying to get a foot onto an aider step, stable, easy to connect and lightweight. I'm planning on running for WE steps, K/S, with a lineman going up, tether at height on rappel rope and rappelling down on a figure 8 or my beal birdie. Will leave a preset for coming back to SRT. I think I've found my jam!

I agree, the KS is so solid feeling in the testing I’ve done. Are you walking in with them on or putting them on at the tree? I generally put my saddle on at the tree so it doesn’t sag on the walk in. I’m hoping suspenders would fix that, and if so, I feel it would be easier To saddle and swaider up at the tree.

I’m just trying to find way to not have to do too much at tree, I’d like to just be able to sneak in and climb up without looking like a monkey f****** a football.

Good question and I don't know yet, honestly, given season is over here and I'm just starting to toy with K/S. I'd probably put em on at the tree just so they don't get snagged on stuff walking in.

Has anyone tried pairing the knaider/swaider with a one stick instead of a fixed aider?

I'm assuming the hooks will work fine but the plastic coating won't last... I wrapped mine in black hockey tape... grips better and isn't going to crack
