knot for changing out straps for Dyneema rope

Quick question, I bought some wild edge type steps and am changing out the strap for Dyneema rope. Should I use the lock Brummel on the fixed end or should I girth hitch with the locked Brummel? Didn't know if the girth helps or hurts with strength
