JUst getting into changing my teather and linemens belt for GW. Not that I had any problem. Do you guys splice or most tie knots. I've got yale bandit order and prusik cordard coming. Would love to splice if it's save. And if you do splice is it better to lock stich or whip. Thanks any help would be great. thanks Greg

Most tie knots, but you can definitely splice that rope. @flinginairos did it and I'm pretty sure there is a good thread on it with his references.

Bandit isn't bad to splice. I've done a bunch of it. Shoot me a message if you have any specific questions! Lock stitch works just fine on them. No way it's coming apart if it's spliced right!

There's a video by New England ropes on there that is awesome. Follow that exactly and your in business.

great video I made me a linesmen beat out of a summit 30' safety rope. It is going to be my second belt when I'm going around branches. I'm going to test it tomorrow with the tractor. Thanks Greg

Cool! Let us know how it goes!

I have some extra Yale Bandit lying around and would like to try my hand at splicing. Are you guys buying fids? Using coat hangers? Just wondering if there is any advantage of a purchased fid over a diy tool. Thanks!

FWIW I've read some splicing information/instructions where they used the front half of a knitting needle with the tail end cut off as a fid. For the life of me, I couldn't use a knitting needle for anything else.
