So I went to 8mm tether. It came with a prusik knot and poor man's Ascender. I was trying to keep weight down by not buying a kong. I find that knot does in fact slip. Tips??
Another wrap on your prusik knot might work. You didn’t say what size rope the prusik is made out of. If I remember right the guide is that the prusik size should be 60-80% of the rope you are using it on. So 5 or 6mm for your 8 mm rope. I use a Kong because I run a long bridge and a really short tether. Can’t get my tether as short as I like it with a prusik. So I went to 8mm tether. ...samesies.. I climb with sticks but I had a rm1 for about 1/2 a season.. yeah it makes moving lines easy... but not THAT much easier... plus it's going to ding off the sticks or platform EVERY TIMEI have 2 RM1 sitting unused in my drawer ever since I learned the michoacan and now the JRBSTAH. That's the JRB self tending ascender hitch. They absolutely do not lock up and are very easy to use one handed! The only metal in my system are the carabiners. Learn them and save your money!
