So I just recently got the Kuiu guide pants and jacket. They seem to be really good. Anyone else like these for bow hunting?

I enjoy the pants for bow and gun season in VT, I like that I can vent the pants and dump heat as I'm walking around. However, I'm not a huge fan of the jacket while bow hunting as I can't remove the hood from the jacket. When I'm walking during gun season I do like the jacket for the same reason as the pants, I can unzip the pits and dump heat as I get too warm while on a track.

They both pants and jacket seem really lightweight. To me, it might be the best wind/rain proof coating that’s still quiet enough to draw a bow. I like it, but boy there seems to be a lot of negative reviews.

I've been using the guide jacket and attack pants (and guide pants late season) for 3 years now. I love them, but if you think that they are for sitting in any temps below 45 or so, you will be very disappointed. And cold.

They are great at what they are designed for - active, mountain hunts. I can push through all kinds of thick stuff, including briars, swamps, thickets, deadfall, etc. with no problem. Still quiet enough to bowhunt with. Light rain is no problem, and they are my choice for tracking or long, long walk to a set up, even down to zero up in Vermont, NY and Maine during rifle season.

They dump heat and sweat as they are designed to do on a high output hunt. They're also very lightweight, stay dry, and dry amazingly quickly if they do get wet. But for hunting out of a tree they are garbage - designed to shed heat, not hold it in. If I know I have a long hike and may want to end up in a tree for a few hours when it's cold I always bring a windproof and insulating layer for both top and bottom (read: puffy pants and jacket)

I have a few puffy jackets - LL Bean 850 down, Kryptek Ghar, Patagonia Down sweater and probably my favorite - Arcteryx Atom L, which is synthetic.

For pants, I have the discontinued Kuiu Kenai pant (synthetic insulation) which are awesome because they have a full side zip so you don't have to take your boots off. Arcteryx makes something similar, as does Mountain Hardware I think.
