Got lasered tonight flying into LA.

People buy industrial strength lasers from China.

The merchants purposely miss label them so they can be shipped to North America.

The people who buy them like to point them at airplanes at night, thinking it’s fun for all.

Problem is, these lasers are strong enough to damage the eyes of people on board the plane if they are unlucky enough to look right at it.

I have mild pain in my right eye and it feels dry.

I will likely be removed from flying until I can see a specialist to get an ok. If there is real damage I could lose my license!

If anyone on here owns or knows someone that own an industrial laser DON’T POINT THEM AT PEOPLE!

Unfortunately that’s why most people purchase these things and you can’t fix stupid!

Definitely can't fix stupid. I always say the problem with mankind is that we put warning labels on everything unfortunately reducing the possibilities of natural selection in the herd. That person ought to point that laser at a cop and see how that pans out for them. I hope you're all right brother.
 
Wow, the stupidity/inconsideration of people never ceases to amaze me. We do quite a bit of laser welding in our factory and industrial lasers are nothing to mess around with. I sincerely hope you're ok and medically cleared quickly. Best wishes.
 
I hate to hear that. Hope you don't have any damage, and that the shenanigan-puller's stupidity comes back to bite him in the appropriately karmic manner.

People like that are the reason sensible people can't play with cool toys.
 
That sucks, we deal with that on our test flights all the time. Gets reported but I'm not aware of any arrest, ever!
 
You cant fix stupid, cant argue with stupid, but I have been forced to work with stupid. That sucks that people are that way, hope you heal quickly. Good luck.

I’m sure they have scanners. As soon as we report the strike and location they’ll pack up and move.
