I live in South GA. What color pattern leafy suit do y’all suggest? I hunt in a bunch of different habitats such as pine, hardwoods, open ground with downed tress and bushes. I’d like to add some ground hunting to my options. I’ve been looking at the North Mountain shirt or even just getting a top and just wearing pants. What would y’all suggest?

A hood would be nice. I haven’t personally had issues with the mask deer or turkey hunting.

The only negative I’ve heard about the ASAT is having no hoodie and the mask is a little difficult at times.
I don’t use the hoods on any of the other suits I have either so that’s a non issue for me

this is a huge issue for me with this suit....without a head covering you lose a lot of the advantage of breaking up your outline.....yet the ASAT face mask is very difficult for many people to shoot a bow with accurately

they really should offer a version with a regular hood

i have a northern mountain brown leafy and it works all seasons because there is always brown in the woods

Do y’all think the pants are a necessity when hunting from a saddle or off the ground? I’m thinking about getting the Realtreee Edge or Mossy Oak Bottomlands North Mountain Jacket.

I have the ASAT suit and usually only wear the jacket and face mask. Where I hunt the pants would be shredded till I got to my hunting spot(s)

Anyone have any experience with the Quikcamo suits?

You really don't need a ghillie or leafy suit for ground hunting, just have decent back cover and a little in front and be as still as a statue.
If you'd like to try something for really cheap cut a head hole in camo netting like this and wear it like a poncho, or drape it over you if you're hunting with a scope. You can cover your legs, chair etc and your arms will be left free for shooting. It'll pack down about the size of a softball. My dad has been doing this for years and been very successful.
I have a "Kill Suit" sapper here in desert tan/semi arid for hunting corn fields and a "Red Rock Outdoors" ghillie here in woodland camo for greener areas just because they were gifted to me. I have the sapper version in the kill suit and only wear the jacket part on the red rock ghillie. I pack them all in and put them on when I'm ready to sit because they're all super snaggy.
I've used a leafy suit but I wasn't a fan of the one I used because the leaves on the suit moved with the slightest breeze which could alert a deer when hunting on the ground. If the leaves are heavier, or mesh maybe they'd resist wind movement a little better.

Asat suit fits in EWO large fleece pouch so real easy to molle snap it on to ur saddle or pack....suit also fits in just cargo pockets alone. I don't really think camo is necessary....my line of thinking with the purchase (kinda pricey) was this.....it's hot here, with this super lightweight suit I can wear shorts and a wife beater for the walk in and then put that on and stay cool and helps keeps skeeters off. Breaking up the outline a little is nice also...and when i forget my hunt clothes at home and drive an hour or 2 to go hunt I got that pouch in the tout with my saddle.

With the way the mask is designed the draw string compresses the material on the side of ur head/temple area so to help keep it on and not obstruct ur peripheral vision...less obstructive than the hood on jackets or hoodies imo

Big fan of the ASAT leafy suit. Have a couple of them. My first is probably 15 years old or more. Wish the new ones were like the old. The old ones fluff up real nice. First Light came out with one two or more years ago too. Like that one too. No pants though.

I like my ASAT suit most for ground hunting. This year I made a proper head cover by taking apart the face mask that came with the suit, then took an old waterproof boonie hat, added some ghillie netting, jute string, and worked in strips of fabric from the ASAT face mask. Does a great job of breaking up your head/shoulders outline...

I don't put any of this on until I got everything situated especially since it packs up nice and compact.
