I scouted today and found an abundance of sign but very few straight trees. These trees were over looking a trail and watering junction and are very representative of what I would be dealing with.

As a new saddle hunter my questions are:

1. Would you set up in these trees?
2. If so how would you do it?

The trees lean towards the trail


 
This is just a thought cause I never tried it...... if that is absolutely where u gotta sit and u don't want to sit on the ground what if u took ur lineamans rope and girth hitched to 1 tree and then girth hitch ur tether to another and string ur saddle across like a hammock and make like a little bench to sit on or attach ur platform and use as a seat
 
U have to watch ur movement but i think that tall grass would break up ur outline well enough if u were settled in the center of that clump if trees....gonna be an uncomfortable hunt hahahahaha
 
If that's the X, you do what you gotta do. Sticks will get you up there if you are a good climber. Climb the high side. Find a spot you can tuck into. Statue-mode hunting.
 
If you're not running cameras there yet to know what's there and just going in to hunt it for the first time; looks like there's some bigger more suitable trees in the background, imo I'd start back there on a scout/hunt and see what you see. If all the movement is still on the trail by the clutter of smaller trees then I'd improvise and do what you gotta do to hunt there.
 
I just ordered a sit drag and the Hawk any angle seat to give me some elevated ground options.

I hunted similar property last year using a turkey lounger and all of the underbrush wrecked havoc on shooting lanes.

There are some trees back to the west that are more suitable but the signs are not as abundant. I may end up trying to go ultralight and put in from the riverside in my kayak. It’s not set up for cargo so I’ll be very limited in what I can take. If I access on foot I’ll hit the trees and use my saddle.
 
All those trees look too skinny for me, and I don't trust whatever root system got them leaned over that far.

That said if you can't be talked out of it, you might try getting a line on the top tree with a throwball, SRT up the line, and and hang from the top tree with your platform on the middle tree. Use the branches for cover.

That said, those trees are "not yummy for me". Ground blind, or come back with a rifle and set up in the wood line.
 
You could pull it off with a locon with an adjustable platform but I do t think I would with a saddle That would be a long sit staying balanced on the high side Sticks wouldn’t be too hard to climb with
 
This is where the JX3 Hybrid works very well. You climb up and sit down with the weight on the fork. You can still sit in comfort in those trees.

I actually have a JX3, are you sitting on the high side?
