Had my first saddle hunt today and it went well, other than one costly mistake I wanted to share to help save others some money and heartache.
When you’re all settled in and decide to draw your bow to check your shooting lanes and make sure you can actually get into those positions, and you then decide you’re good so you let your bow down, watch your bridge. Caught my trigger with mine and sent an arrow with a Magnus broadhead soaring off into the woods into some of the thickest stuff on the property I hunt. I never could find the arrow.
Good thing is that not more than 30 minutes later I had both my first bow kill as well as my first saddle kill on the ground. A funny 3 point with one long antler and one stub, just like Elliott from the cartoon Open Season. Made a perfect heart shot and he went down within 45 yards.
I’m hooked both on bow hunting and saddle hunting.
Thanks everyone for the encouragement, advise, and even the gear.
Now to buy some more arrows and Broadheads. Shhhh, don’t tell the wife.
