Let's see your setup!

Probably the most neglected part of true pre-season prep is flowers, unexpected date dinners, and CHOCOLATE - trust me when I say the work you do in "pre-season" prep can make or break a season :D :D :D

I make sure that I never neglect this part of the pre-season prep! You are absolutely right!

Isnt sweetest day mid October? I missed it this year and she didnt remind me about it so I guess Im off the hook. :D

I don't know when that is, but it always seems like we could do nothing socially all year and then there is something planned every weekend from september through january  . And I am given a hard time for wanting to sit in a tree instead!

My wife has pretty much gotten used to the boxes coming in. I order everything online anymore, I hate going to the store. That being said, when they really start flowing in for a new project, I find it is ok if she sees one or two, but you better make sure she doesn't see all 10

Yeah, I have reached the "too many boxes" point with all the saddle, climbing, steps, etc recently. Last week I felt I better pre-empt the week's flow by telling her I had four packages coming but the total was less than $60. We had the too many packages talk each of the prior two weeks. :?

I figured out how to fix that. I had mine move out and now I live alone. I have had the neighbors ask me "why does UPS deliver to your house every day? What in the hell are you buying? " . I just say work stuff. It's easier with neighbors than with the better half

AMEN!!! I tell her the whole summer belongs to the family. Use it or I will buy a bass boat. But the kids play with their friends all summer. Then when it is "cold" (50's count when you have girls) then they want you around because they are bored.

I think you guys have the general "pre-season preparation" all wrong...

I like to lose a bunch of money playing poker, eat a ton of beans, start picking at her cooking...

I figure it is better to make her "enjoy" the time I'm away.

I have accidentally tried this method. Can't say I recommend it

The photos that are upside down and sideways if you click on them they will be right side up.
i use three lone wolf sticks and two muddy sticks up top also on my bottom lone wolf i have a rope step for added height. hoping to go to one of two sticks only by next year. also i took my muddy bloodsport seat and have it tucked inside my trophyline treesadle seat to try and make it look and feel like the guido web. I also use a ropeman 2 on my linemans belt and am going to start to use it as well for my tether as well.

Thread reminds me of one of my favourite quotes:
"My Biggest Fear Is That When I Die My Wife Will Sell My Hunting Gear For What I Told Her It Cost"

The longer I saddle hunt the more I realize I don't want anything on my saddle. I keep everything in Faisal that is hung on right side of tree. I may have one pouch on my saddle for tree rope.... Did this year but thinking about taking it back off.

Me too. I like to be free and not contested! Hand my pack on the right of tree with gear I may need in a hurry hanging off. Which is only a grunt call and water bottle. I don't pack binos or range finder. Woods is too thick for binos and if they are in long bow range, I don't need to range them.

I did a Google image search for "Faisal"..

I find its easier to leave my former Iraqi kings at home when I hunt. The separation is tough at first but I've really been trying to cut down on the unnecessary gear. This is obviously for a day hunt... If it were a backpacking trip it would be a whole different story!

x3, for the most part. I prefer to keep my tree rope and linemans belt in a pouch on my saddle at all times to that I can never forget it. They live in a small pouch on my left hip and when I'm set up and hunting with only the linemans belt in there, it doesn't make a difference to me at all. At this time of year I will add a small pouch on my right hip that carries my grunter, can call and small binoculars so that I have them easily available. My pack hangs on the right side of my tree as well at around 1-2 oclock.

Funny guy. Phone auto corrected. I keep it in my DAYPACK......

Sorry couldn't help myself... I agree though, aside from my tether and climbing gear I keep as little as possible on the saddle.

Wait....I use my Faisal to pack gear and game in and out of the woods. He carries me through swamps and when they get deep I say "hitch up Faisal!"
I highly recommend one.
