Saddle Assassin said:I have to say I am amazed that everyone is doing there rope wrong when going around the tree. Everyone is only going thru the loop one time and it supposed to be two times which helps with it sliding down the tree, it almost makes a knot. Give it a try guys I am sure you will like it better.
That sounds like a good tip...I'll have to give it a try!Saddle Assassin said:I have to say I am amazed that everyone is doing there rope wrong when going around the tree. It's only wrong if you slide down the tree
A lot of us go through the loop twice.
My rope is so stiff that if I don't, just standing up on my platform makes the rope slide down.
I'm switching to a different rope.
You'll see that a lot of guys put a hook on the tree to keep the rope from sliding.
Or they will double wrap the tree.

Glad to see you back in the saddle!
Is your tree strap hanging off a branch? It looks very vertical.
redsquirrel said:That is the biggest limitation I have found with using the rope strap. I like my rope strap with my ropeman 1 ascender... but I can only hunt a tree up to about a foot in diameter with it. My custom tree strap is similar in design to the trophyline but lighter and I can hunt much bigger trees with it.
