Lets talk drinking coffee when in the saddle

Canuck deer like fried eggs... check! Just added that as a line item in gear to bring if I ever get a hunt up there.

Was it eggs or bacon? I’m fasting today......mmmmmmm bacon

I once had a young deer step across my legs to smell my coffee I had just poured prior to two does and 3 youngens coming up the trail about 25 feet from the tree I was sitting at on the ground with the tree for a back rest. It sniffed the coffee several times before returning to the trail and allowing me to make a nice shot on the largest doe. The cup was on the ground next to my right knee and the deer never once paid me any notice as he stepped over my left leg. Close encounter.

Maybe that’s it. That’s the grail! Coffee grounds in our pockets. Doesn’t that work on drug dogs? Coffee grounds.
And the market! So many different brands and roasts!
It limitless!

For my dawn sits, instead of 4 cups of coffee, I limit myself to 2 before getting ready, and avoid drinking any water. Never had a sit interrupted by a bathroom break!

This reminds me of a story. Many, many years ago when us American's could still DIY spring bear hunt, a buddy an I would take a back country canoe trip every spring. We were mostly fishing but we'd take a rifle and alternate years buying a bear tag. Well one year we had been piling our eggshells across the river on the opposite bank hoping a bear would take an interest. One morning we were paddling over with that mornings breakfast scraps and we could see the eggshells had all been eaten. Encouraged we thought well at least there might be a bear in the area. Well we got over there to find the only tracks on the beach were moose tracks. Apparently Canadian deer and moose both share a liking of eggs.

Starbucks Expresso in a 6 oz can, so I don’t have to carry a thermos. I like cold coffee....

I like to use a big platform so I can be set up to brew my coffee fresh.

Hands down the Contigo Thermal mug is the way to go! Its basically a thermos that you drink like a travel mug, push a button to take a sip, let go and it closes. Dirt cheap too, you can find them for well under 20$.
