I would like to hear from ayone that owns or has owned an Oneida bow.

I am searching for a used one.
I could buy new but my concern is they keep making the bows shorter.

I saw a youtube video about the history of the bow. The guy says he doesn't like the Strike Eagle or whichever bows have the longbow looking limbs. He doesn't state why or if the bows are not as good.

Here is my story.
Wisconsin had one hell of a sport show once upon a time(40 yrs. ago)and I had hardly any money to my name the day attended.

Buck Rub Archery shop had a booth there that year and in it was the first ever to hit Wi.
Oneida Eagle.

I paid my admission and bought a beer leaving me with $5 in my pocket. When I saw the bow and drew it I said I wanted to buy it.

They wanted it to remain at the show and asked for a deposit and it was mine. The look on his face when I fished out my only $5 in the world. We did the deal and I took possession two weeks later.

I loved that bow but a hinge broke when I let my older brother take it out. I moved on eventually but lately I have been wanti g to finger shoot one pretty bad. I know they are better made over the years.

Lets hear your stories, experiences and opinions on which were the best years.

They were made local to me for years, In fact my machine shop used to make risers and cams for them after the original owner sold to another guy that basically ran t. Great place into the ground. I have owned many Oneidas, Great bows but heavy and loud. I think I still have a machined riser for one of the Lite Force bows.

Both of my cousin's owned the Tomcat versions. They killed a few deer with them. I never liked how complicated they looked but they did draw pretty smooth. I can't say how the new ones are but they seem to be decent. I like that you basically can press the bow anywhere you can put two nails or whatever in a tree or post and draw it back and its pressed to work on. You could even do what Matthews did this year and get a beefy shorter string and carry it with you to press the bow. I think Tim Wells is in association with them now. My fellow bow instructor still has two of them. He hasn't bowhunted in awhile due to physical mobility issues right now but he loves his.

I know Tim Wells likes em pretty well. A long time ago I had a lever bow made by the original owner of Oneida called Discovery. Shot decent but was constantly adjusting it. I got frustrated with it and unloaded it. There are a bunch of moving parts on them Oneida bows. Why not just get a Recurve?

I had a tomcat II and an original screaming eagle. Once dialed in they were extremely accurate finger shooters. I purchased them after throwning my should out for the umteenth time and was having issues holding my recurve back. I liked them a lot. I often wish I had kept one of them. Theres a facebook group dedicated to them, and there are guys there machining and printing parts for them as well as making replacement cables. They're super easy to work on. Not sure of the quality of the newer ones...

I have recurves galore. One Acs longbow.
I been shooting an early 90s Black Widow lately.
I have to say its quiet and accurate.
64" bow #63 full length gold tip traditional 400s with reg insert 250 grain tips, 5" inch trad feathers.

i'd ask 'why has no other bow maker licensed or mimicked their design?'

at one time, they were some of the fastest bows made, but now not at all

a friend had one in the 90s and on a steep downward shot the bottom limb hit his man bean bag and he fell....thankfully he was wearing a harness

they lose so much axle to axle at full draw that i am confused how they would work for finger shooting (finger pinch)

I haven't shot one in what 40 years?
Its like I never did..
Many are finger shooting them.
Theres that..

because the sting goes on the tip with a standard loop like a recurve you dont have to worry about derailing it like a wheel bow. Way less fingerpinch on either of mine than a kmag or browning cobra....

I bought a Oneida 500 when they first came out.It was a great fingers Bow for shoots but could not quite it enough to hunt with.

Send it to me!

If it was a conquest 4 I think it would go quick enough.
I wonder what the differece is.

Grid riser and cam difference mostly. The last of the single cam target bows. $1200 new....I'd be happy with $400 considering the rest and quiver were $100 a piece.

Tried to no end to quiet the shot. They just sound like shooting a 22lr. Draw smoothe and the older ones are great shooters but very heavy and loud.
