Linemans belt as bridge

Anybody do this? Since I'll be using a sit drag, would it be dumb to use my linemans belt as my bridge?

Just be sure to clip your tether into your bridge/lineman’s while it’s around your tree or you could take a ride.

Right. I figured that would be the main concern with using it like that.

I may just be dimwitted today, but I can't imagine a way to do this without being completely disconnected from the tree at some point, right? I'm thinking
  1. reach the top of the climb, get on platform or ros.
  2. attach tether around tree and connect it to... Oh. No bridge yet? Just connect tether to linemans' belt?
  3. Disconnect linemans' belt from around tree, connect from one side of saddle to the other as a bridge - but during this maneuver you're not seeming very safe in case of a sudden gust, tree sway, foot slip, nuclear detonation, etc.
What am I not getting?

Assuming you are using a RC harness to back up the SitDrag, you could...

Reach hunting height, and attach the tether to your back up on the RCH. Now you can remove the LB and set it as your bridge. Then connect your bridge to the main spot on your tether.

Actually doesn't sound too bad!

Maybe back the belay loop up with a carabiner and vertical bridge, or a quick RC daisy-chain bridge? Before trying the daisy chain though, check out the safety videos and how to properly load and hitch them.

You can add a short fixed bridge to your setup. I use the fixed bridge on my mantis to temporarily attach to my tether when removing my LB. After unhooking my LB I then use the LB as an adjustable bridge. Then the short fixed bridge just kinda lays there out of the way. I personally never intentionally disconnect completely from the tree. Even for a second. (Side note,I run a distel hitch with keeper on my LB for one handed adjustment while using it as a LB and a bridge.)

I bring up an extra caribiner or two and a couple slings with me. If you aren't using a RCH you can put a sling through the side loops of your saddle and connect it to your tether before unhooking the linesman's belt and using that as your bridge.

I would be using a RCH since it would be an unaltered sit drag. I would use the linemans belt like normal while climbing the tree. Set up my platform, stand on it, and put my tether around the tree. I would have 2 prussik knots on my tether, so at that point I would then hook onto the center of my RCH. That would allow me to undo the linemans belt and attach it to the sit drag and other prussik knot and have an adjustable bridge. Maybe it sounds dumb, but it makes sense to me.

I do this, but I hook my tether into my belt while transitioning my linesman into my bridge

What is your minimum MBS for your "slings", 23 Kn? Think the TETHRD LB is about 6000 lbs.
I'm using a 22kn sling, actually two of them... I twist one in half and loop it around my arms so there is an X on my back. I can connect that to carabiner as back support if I want to as well.
