After reading about the rave reviews here on the Cobra buckles, I found a local retailer. It was $40 but they had them in sock and we're only a 40 min drive away...
Then I had to decide what to make next.
A Lineman's Belt seemed to be a pretty good idea so off to MEC, I went for webbing. I picked up some 2" webbing and a little 1" tubular webbing later, home I went to create.
The version of buckle I picked up came with a steel "D" ring. This will allow me to attach the dead end of the Tree Strap to the belt while allowing the saddle bridge to connect via a Pursick knot.

I'd like to thank Lukpighetti for the videos on how to sew webbing btw. It was a great piece of info.
I threaded some 2" webbing through the 1" tubular to create the loops for the rope end of the Lineman's Belt.

I've added a stretch of 3" to the back. It's made it much more comfortable.

I'm considering adding a piece of 6" (2-3" attached edge to edge.)

Any thoughts?

Are you making this to wear instead of a harness? Just know that if you hang from it, the front is going to pull up and cut into your stomach and the pressure will be on your hips mostly and then on your back.

I'm messing with the camp alp racing harness. The trick with it was to get it to sit in the right place on your body

Remember that harness engineering is done where the load is dispersed all the way around your waist and legs and not hanging from a single point. That's why this is a little scary.

Instead of over engineering a LB, I got a Treehopper belt and then go with the light harness.

But I humbly bow to your DIY skills!
Someday I'll actually take time to make something that clean :)

My concern with a saddle is that there is no "safety", is something silly happens. This belt would allow me to wear it as a Lineman's Belt and allow me to connect to the dead end of the Tree Strap. So if the saddle failed the belt would keep me from falling 20'. It would allow me to fall 4' at most.

Understood. You DONT want to fall 4' on a single point connection belt!
Especially with static rope.

I was warned by NewTribe not to safety anchor to just one side of the harness for that reason.

You can hang from most harnesses and not even have the buckle fastended because of the distribution of the load.

Several people here are connecting a 2nd prusik to a harness so there is no slack or just a few inches.

With that in mind, I did a rough harass "seat". Not for hunting out of but to distribute load should the saddle fail. What are your thoughts? Currently, my concern is how a fall may affect "the boys"...

Please excuse the unfinished look. It's just a rough thrown together idea.

Yeah...the 'nut squeeze' gets me with the Alpine BOD sometimes.
Google Camp Alp Racer and look at their shape. They left the groin strap out which makes it less stable but no nut squeeze

They also put very light elastic bands from the waist in the. Ack down to the leg loops. Just to help keep them in place

So... comfort, thinking it might be nice to have a little padding along the back of the belt, I headed out for more supplies. Didn't go far or look hard, but found some elastic strapping and 2" think foam.

I did it this way so that I wouldn't have to fish my legs through any loops.
Simply put the belt on like any belt and pull up thigh wrap for connection. That way any walking/climbing wouldn't be inhibited.
