Lines belt as a gear hanger?

I looked a the strap that Tethrd sells. Pretty slick. Thought Id just fab one up with some spare parts. Meh- too much sewing.

I was looking at re-purposing a an old webbing style linemans belt as a gear hanger. Seemed a shame to stitch it up and lose strength on an extra piece of safety gear. So I was looing at just hanging gear on it- no real need for a Molle system anyway.

Then I thought....why not just my actual linemans belt..one biner, and the prussic? Hang a couple hooks on it an be done.... Mine has a small quick ling on already, serving as my prussic tender. Not hauling anything up the tree until a guy is secure. Its adjustable down to a pretty skinny tree. A rope tensioner would get it tighter.

Any drawbacks to this? I may wind up using the ild strap belt as its light...and it would be one more piece of safety gear on hand.

Dont see any drawbacks. I put my hero clip kn my tether yesterday without any problems

I have always used my lineman’s belt as a gear hanger once i’m on my tether.

Just girth hitch it around the tree and clip your pack into the carabiner and you’re good to go.

yup, i like to get as many functions from my gear as possible. instead of stowing my lineman and getting out a separate piece of equipment for hanging gear from, i just cinch my lineman around the tree. i hook the biner from my prusik cord into the eye of the lineman, cinch tight and hook up my s-biners to it. i guess the only downside is if for some reason you need to use it, but hanging my gear is usually the last thing up and first thing down i do, and havent had any issues so far.

Cheap, packable, lightweight option that is super simple to make:

I used my linesman belt my last hunt to hang my backpack. This was after dropping one of my screw in hangers. The remaining one was for the rifle. Ended up liking it, will probably get a couple if hero clips and keep using this method.

Thats how i currently hang my pack (or used to that is) during my hang on days. Once tethered swing it around clip one carabiner to the other end and second carabiner clips to handle on bag cinch tight with prusik. Done deal. Going away from the idea on my saddle setup since my linemans will stay fixed to my saddle (although easily removed) and makes it easier to use for self rescue if i dont have it on the tree, under my tether, with my pack attached to it.

I started doing that this year. After I'm securely in my tether, I put my lineman's up above the tether and hang pack from it first using my rope man to get the height I want. Clip the hero clip to the left side of the lineman's and hang my bow. I quit carrying extra things as I have too much stuff with me already.

I dont think its so bad having the extra Tethrd strap to hang accessories...and my linesman belt lives in my left bag while staying girth hitched to my linesman loops...but this is why saddle hunting is sooo freaking addicting...no right or wrong really...just a bunch a great guys sharing ideas...I say of it works for you then do it...great post
