Had to laugh when I saw this! It was -12 here this morning when I walked the dog. I don't see much hunting in my near future. Ice fishing on the other hand...

I had 6 degrees today!! Early morning movement has died in the last week. Planning on some afternoons to finish the last 5 days of my 2017 season.

I was out yesterday, but too freaking cold to be taking pictures. Each step on the frozen snow covered trail was like glass shattering. I alerted all the deer within a country mile where I was.

Plus, setting up and tearing down was brutal on my hands with the extreme cold. Still hoping for a productive hunt in the next two days.

Well, it’s kind of live from the tree... my dad took my son and nephew out to his West Texas lease and got them on a deer a piece.
My son got a doe

My nephew got a spike

And my dad was able to get a nice 9 pointer while the boys were in the stand with him.

It sure is nice that he takes my son out when I don’t have a place to take him. And it was good for the boys to see such a nice buck taken in person, and to learn to pass on the younger bucks.

Headed out now its 10degrees and an 8mph wind so yeah its cold!! No hope for a monster as the one i have been solely focused on has disappeared which is normal. Now looking to take a doe or one of the smaller older bucks.

Well like clockwork 3:30pm two does came in. I watched them for 10 minutes and shot one. I thought i made a good shot so after 30mins i got down and started to track. Well i get 5 feet from her and im like the work begins now. Next thing you know she jumps up and runs. Im like *** what the h, e double hockey sticks. I back out and come back about 1hr later its pitch black. This time i got to use my new flir scout. Sure enough i start scanning from where i jumped her and could see a spot light up on the thermal. I go check it out and there she was. The shot was farther back then what i thought but there was a ton of blood. The drag was up a 70 degree incline which got the sweat going. Then about 20 minutes back to the truck. 2 more days left in the season so i have one more tag!!

Thanks 2 does and 1 buck with 2 days left. I have had a season of ups and downs but it actually has been the most productive and learning experience season.

Sat tonight in the subzero temps. I was waiting on a good buck. His tracks were there and he was bedded tight to a river bend. I just ran out of daylight. I watched multiple deer stand up from their beds and work through. Probably should have taken a doe. Oh well. At least the cold weather reminds me that I am very much alive.

Up in PA for a few, did 2 sits so far, some fresh snow and tracks no action yet, several bucks and doe on camera. Temps have been tough for me, made it almost 4 hrs the other day. Wasn't able to make sunset, just got too cold, was worried I wouldn't be able to get down, I'm rigging the rappel rope as soon as I get up next time, just in case.

Second sit was rushed and a tough climb, good spot but tons of branches, left my rope and hand climber for the am sit tomorrow.

Not from the tree but live from the blind. First time out in a couple weeks. Had a nasty bug the did a number on me.

Any way, was 13 when I got out. Now its snowing. Nice and toasty in the blind with my trusty Mr. Heater.

Set up this spot for next year. About 50 yards from the food plot to my right and 50 yards from the food plot on my left. This should be perfect for November. Didn't see anything this morning. 31 degrees is cold for SC !! Supposed to be 21 degrees in the morning....anyone think I won't make it out ?
