Hey guys, how many of you cut your lone wolf sticks down to 17” to make the mini sticks? I’m 5’11” and pretty athletic so I could stretch it with the 17” sticks early in the season but would like to hear from some guys before I cut them down. Would like to know how high guys are getting with them with and without an aider thanks!

Cut mine to 24, with a two step aider, pretty easy 20'. I'm 5-9/178 and 61

That was the other size I was considering, 24” stick put your steps at about 22” spacing right?
Pretty close. I'm running doublesteps, so the bolt goes through both the standoff and the steps (they pivot with a wing nut). But even without the pivot option, they are pretty easy to negotiate. I like the four or five step aider idea, I just haven't tried it yet (either a single or a two-step tubular nylon one like DIYSPORTSMAN shows).

I cut one of mine to 24" with a 22" step spacing to experiment with. I too am using the double steps. Only used it once, but I really liked it. I am short, fat, and have bad knees but was able to make the stretch.

With a single step carry as you go aider made from 1 " tubular webbing, I should be able to get around 5 ft per stick. My 24" stick with double steps, and a rope mod weighs right at 2#. I did drill 1/2" lightening holes on the right and left sides of the stick (Ala beast sticks)

I did the same with my DIY sticks. Cut the helium's to 24 also. Might just have to sell the lone Wolfs!!

I cut my Lone Wolfs to 24" stick which puts the step at 22" spacing. I also added the
Versa lite straps and double steps. I didn't drill any holes and haven't weighed them yet. Still haven't tried them out yet because I just got finished with the mods and paint job. 5'10"/200 and 66. :)

Let's see the paint jobs!

Here they are. I think.

Nope! I'm working on it.

I cut mine to 25” with a 22” spacing have an extra inch above the top step I planned on purpose to hang a movable aider on but I really don’t like aider a so it doesn’t get used much..... I also drilled holes to lighten the 1/2” on 1” centers all the way around then wrapped them with stealth strips was siring he cam buckle straps with inner tubes over the buckles tried the rope mod and don’t like it but I’ve recently switched to the webbing daisy chain.

What don’t you like about the aider?

Just not a fan of aiders in general, I wish I could like them because they definitely have some benefits but I just always feel awkward and slow climbing on them.

When cutting your sticks how do they match up for stacking? Did you guys have to change the verse button location?

I had to drill a hole for the versa button bolt head. I cut these 18” and only use the one step aider on the bottom stick.

I cut to 18” and just flipped everything upside down. Got the idea from a YouTube video.
