Lone wolf climbing stick modification

Hey guys, how many of you cut your lone wolf sticks down to 17” to make the mini sticks? I’m 5’11” and pretty athletic so I could stretch it with the 17” sticks early in the season but would like to hear from some guys before I cut them down. Would like to know how high guys are getting with them with and without an aider thanks!

Here is my “test” lone wolf stick.. cut down right below second step. Using the standard lone wolf buckle strap as an aider the loop end is between both the step bolt and the stop bolt I am able to get same height per stick as a standard size lone wolfs my reason for cutting was pack ability and profile using my predator pack

Looks like you need to move your button up. Basic physics would suggest that having that button below center of gravity or ~1/3 of height like you do would make stepping on the top step unstable. There was another member who recently had an accident because of this and I think he had his at 1/2 up the stick. ~2/3 or a little over half is going to be your safest bet, tried and true. A good example of how all the manufactured stick’s buttons are place. Just looking out! Anyone else agree?

Thank you I appreciate the information I’ve searched a ton for modifying the sticks and never found a definitive answer in moving the versa button. I have been testing this stick. And jumping and twisting it while locked in and it hasn’t slipped but now knowing the information i will be relocating the versa button thanks again

I appreciate your insight. Shortly after I rotated my stick. So the cut side I now the top and the stock side is now the bottom shift my versa button favoring the top by about 2.75”
