I recently started using the Lone Wolf hand climber with my tethrd mantis. Anyone else use this setup? Here’s a video I threw together explaining it and some quick modifications to make.

I love the idea but my only downfall is how loud it is using this method. It definitely has its role in the game for sure!

Imo
Pros- light weight, simple, unlimited height for tree without limbs.

Cons- noises, you are limited on tree selection.

If there was a way to silence the sliding noise this would be the perfect moveable platform. Here on the public land in Louisiana we have allot of pine and thick underbrush and most places if you aren’t at least 30 foot + then you can not see the deer. The other issue is it’s hard to have cover in these places so you need to keep the tree between you and the deer until you are ready to Execute you’re shot. In this situation this platform is perfect other than the fact of the noise from the platform.

Anyone have any advice to reduce the noise from the contact of the band to pine tree bark to be able to move around the tree?

On my last hitch home I hunted 12 days. Average 8 hours in saddle a day.
Had no time to scout so mobile scout and hunt scout and hunt.
Mostly Cypress, Pine, and Cabbage Palm.
Could have killed some small bucks but opted not to.
The one oppurtuntaty I should have had I was climbing down a Cypress at 11 had been there since before daylight and was ready to jump off into the water and heard him jump in the water behind me. He was a fair 8 point. I turned around to look at him and he was starring at me from 35 yards. No chance should have sat a little longer.
Anyhow I carry an extra tether and on trees with limbs when I get to a limb I put my other tether above the limb climb up till the climber hits the limb then hang off the side and take the climber off and advance it above the limb and keep going to the next one. Don't forget when you change tethers to retie your platform to it.
Noise if you go slow and pay attention it makes very little.
I also have a 1 step 1" tubular webbing aider that hangs off the front of my platform so I can hang it at chest level to mount the platform. It saves 1 adjustment while climbing.
Put tether on tree then hang platform run ascender all the way up to the tree wrap it around your hand put other hand on ascender foot in aider and step up on platform. For old men put kneepads on and put your knee on platform.
It takes a little getting used to but works well.
I've been using the climber for 6 years now and have all the other climbing devices Sticks, WE Stepps, Drill and bolts, and Spurs. I use the Climber 98% of the time.
