Lone Wolf (Novix) handclimber top for climbing

I’ve used the LW handclimber top for climbing limbless trees (in conjunction with my saddle) but wondering if anyone has used the top in place of climbing sticks for trees with limbs instead of climbing sticks.
Obviously if the tree has a lot of limbs it would be too much disconnecting/reattaching but for a tree with a few limbs spaced a reasonable distance apart it doesn’t seem like it’d be a problem.
Wanna try this but wondering if anyone else has and what it was like.

Thanks for any input.

Some ppl here use it as a climber and/or platform for trees with limbs. As you infer, the more limbs the more it becomes a pain

This is what I was wondering about, how much of a pain is it compared to hanging sticks or screwing steps in? Unless it were a large tree you couldn’t get your arms around it doesn’t seem like it’d be any worse but I emphasize SEEM because o hadn’t tried it.

I use the LWHC for climbing sometimes and I try to avoid trees with branches whenever possible. Consider the sequence of steps required.

You're climbing and reach the branch. You will need a second tether or linemans belt to attach above the branch so that you can connect above the branch, remove and then attach your primary tether above the branch. Then you need to climb further so that the platform is near enough to the branch and your tether high enough that you can reach down to detach the platform, reattach it above the branch, and still be able to stand on it.

It's possible, but not easy. I find even shortening the belt on the LWHC difficult as the tree narrows on ascent.

Sticks are also harder with branches, but really the only difference for setting them is you need a second tether or linemans belt to reattach above them.

Good point I didn’t think about the tether and lineman belt.

I'm often asked if I climb trees with limbs using the lwhc and my answer is no. Like you guys already said, I agree it would be a pain in the butt. That is one reason why I'm not interested in 1 sticking. There are guys that do it and I'm sure they're good at it, it's just not for me.
If limbs are involved or I'm scouting my way in, I use my beast sticks. Also for hunting thick edge, the sticks win.
@Bigterp and I have many limbless trees where we live and some are tight against thick cover. My thing is I Scout all the time and even did today in the rain on public, so I usually know where I'm going and what tool to bring when I hunt. That's my 2 cents lol
