Looking for new headlamp

Petzl active lighting is pretty awesome. Some models are a bit spendy but worth every penny. I have an older version of the Actik and don’t use anything else. Self-adjusting beam, customizable brightness, rechargeable and a red light to boot. Can’t beat ‘em.

If you live by an REI, look for them during garage sales. I once managed to get a Petzl Nao for $40 that was returned for some dumb reason. Steal of a deal on a $200 headlamp.

Olight for me. Keep a streamlight in the truck for other uses. But usually wear my olight

I suddenly feel insecure, like I haven't really thought through my gear. What am I even doing with my life, using whatever Walmart has for around $12-15 and runs on AAAs? I might as well pull out my 30lb summit climber again.

Now I have another rabbit hole to go down. Thanks a lot guys... my wife is going to be pissed.

I've been happy with the 3-pack of Duracell headlamps I bought at Costco for $39. Multi-level spot and flood and red-light too. Over the years I've had PrincetonTek, Fenix, Diamondback, etc flashlights. Some I paid $85-$90 for. And lost or they quit working or the strap wore out. These Duracell's work just as well for me. The technology moves too fast to keep up with the latest brightest/lightest/longest duration models and it stings a lot less when you lose a $13 light.
