Losing Confidence in my Saddle set up

Nope I saw deer, and was on fresh sign of rubs and scrape line, its more of that I feel as im making a lot of noise, and having to work really hard to stay comfortable in the saddle when climbing up one sticking. I keep my bridge really short, which I believe it makes me sit more upright, and causing the leg straps to really dig in.

I was all in on it last year and loved it, but after more time climbing this way, I feel like I might be more efficient, and quiet with multiple sticks. I understand that its not always going to be easy, and there is always bad sits, climbs, etc. I just need to figure out some adjustments to make it more efficient.
Ever try a hard-seat saddle?

I have thought of going back to my original saddle which was literally a 3/4" piece of plywood with a 1" tubular nylon webbing strap to hold me on it. The most comfortable saddle I ever used, but the convenience and ease of a soft saddle won over so I've made replicas of many and use most of them.

I may make a plank with prusiks to attach to my bridge for long sits to mitigate saddle butt syndrome and swing the night away in comfort.

If you have the means, dont sweat making changes. If you dont have the means, just make the changes on the cheap! It doesnt take too much (and you get to decide if you want others to ever see it!)

Scott-
You are getting dangerously close to a JX3 with the plank, next thing we know you will adding a tail to the plank, so you may as well just "Come to the light".........

Not a tail per se, but I did have a nifty pvc pipe with a fitting on the bottom that I would connect at height!

Knee pads? Who needs knee pads!

I have had dozens of deer come in on me while one-sticking. Literally dozens!

If you can use gaffs it will always be the quickest way ,i use my we steps w knaider swaider just to keep my public game up ,and fiddle with a lot of other ways except one sticking lol

My advice would be to try and lengthen your bridge some while you’re one sticking and see how that feels. Also I prefer not to wear my leg loops when climbing, I would try it at ground level first to see if that improves your problems.
This was my thought too. My hawk bridge is to the top of my chest and it’s much more comfortable than the short secondary bridge i rappel with.
I too have some rough climbs and sits, but usually it’s got something to do with leaner trees.

Read any of my past posts on one sticking!! I do not care what anyone says, way more movement and way more noise, that's a fact!! No one can convince me otherwise. Sticks are the way to go when setting up close to bedding or when deer are already on their feet and nearby!

If anyone is interested in a "hard seat" saddle, the Original is the Tree Suit sold in the late 90's early 2000's. I had two, sold one back in September and have the TreeSuit II brand new old stock (never used) in the SH classified's. I know this is shameless plug but there are options available for those that may want to try a hardseat option like the Tree Suit.

I really enjoy one-sticking and find that it is the best compromise for mobility and weight savings especially with an integrated platform on your one stick. That being said, sticks are great too but I think with practice a one stick set up can be just as quiet. What I've learned is to go in smaller moves each time. I've been using the 15" EWO UOS with the UP and a two step aider also 15" between loops. I have found for me personally, I make my tether adjustments off of the first step not the platform. My reach down is easier, I have more control at the reset and just find that yes I may have one more movement overall but my climb up is virtually strain free, is very quiet and I'm not fumbling with putting a platform up once I get to the top of the tree.

To me the weight saving argument is nuts, packability maybe but if you are concerned about a few pounds maybe ya better get in shape. I have had both my shoulders replaced and my hip and I don't notice a few pounds
