@MNFarmHunter probably makes a good point.... but I use Bostik never-seez on pretty much every threaded connection I make. Wipe excess with a rag to keep it off the rope.
Graphite dry lub would be my 2nd choice
 
I never use anything that smells on my hunting stuff.
Maybe try this?

I used a drop of ballistol myself. basically sprayed it for a second in the trashcan and then used the hanging drip from the straw into the quick link and it was perfect for me.
 
I’ve always used bow wax or chap stick

Usually chap stick if I’m already in the woods cuz it’s in my pocket

I have family down in Amelia Island. Great area!

Any adult lube will work as well. Just be careful it might screw too fast
