they run right with that little slidy metal thing they use...i was wearing 11.5 wides in danner boots....woman at REI measured me on the metal thing and said 'you're a 12 and just wide enough to need a wide'....i needed a 12 for length, on the width she didn't know that my flat feet spread inside a boot when walking....ended up with 12 wides...had to remove the lowa insole to accomodate my half length orthotic without cramping foot
the lowa wides aren't super wide....they are just wide enough for me....but i like enough room to wiggle my toes a good bit (love huge toe box boots that don't slip around)
the design and workmanship are top notch....but i've only had them 1 season mind you
traction is great, they have a small heel with a hard angle transition that grabs mud to keep you from sliding....my last hiking boots were flat soled like a tennis shoe and they could take off on you on mud (had good traction, but there was no heel)
got'em super muddy several times, waited a week to clean them, used lowas cleaning system (recommend) and after one season of probably 20 hunts in them (used other boots when really cold), they look brand new after a good cleaning
i've walked in standing water and tested them in my bath tub by leaving them to soak....zero leaks
lowa has been making these for decades and they are their top selling boot
