So my hand climber is my favorite and not because I can climb with it. So I have a ridge runner and have used predator I prefer the hand climbers size and shape now I must say I’m a big man I’m 6’6 and like 310 lb so I put everything to the test. So I have not bolt mod mine I’m to big to drill holes in that bad boy. Now originally I would use my sticks and wrap the band and that would be it but it didn’t like any side pressure and I don’t think that’s a surprise. But I figured out how to use this bad boy with one cam buckle strap and boom 4.6 lb you have a rock solid and I mean rock solid will all 300+ lbs bouncing on it.
All you have to do is lay the plat form flat hook up the cam buckle pull it tight then cam up the platform and go past flat cam then slide the band in till it’s tight and close the lock and you have a 16x 13.5 platform that weights 4.6 lbs. now I’m playing with a carabiner and whoopie daisy chain that drops the weight to 4.26 lbs. I added that endless loop for easier way to connect the cam buckle or carabiner. Hope some one finds this use full.

Thanks for posting the pics! I am going to give this a try. I use the LW as my climbing method as well so I'm guessing I can just sit in my JX 3 Hybrid while I wrap the ratchet strap around the tree and secure to the LW. Looks simple and solid!

Just make sure your strap is lower then your platform. As you can see the angle in that one pic.

What is your setup to climb with the platform? I love the cam up idea. I want to use the same set up and need to figure out how to hook my feet in

Not sure he's using it to climb, but I do. I set my foot straps up following this guy's example:

Someone needs to design one of these with a removable post that can be cammed over so you can take off the climbing strap and use as a fixed platform. I understand these can be used as is fixed but a camming style fixed platform is easier to set up when a guy isn't using it as a climber. A climber that can transform into a fixed platform would have my attention and probably some of my $$ too.

bigsnow88 Great idea! Can you demo (Video would be perfect) how you climb, set the "platform, and get up onto it? I'm trying to figure out how in the heck you climb up on top of the platform once your "climbing device" is fixed lower? I'm slow!

Basically the Same way you get around limbs. Mounted waist height or below while you are suspended against the tree, as you push away from the tree you come up enough to get a knee on the platform.

No need to do a bolt mod, just fiddle with the foot strap placement until it moves the way you want it to. Here’s my set up:

Made my own out of paracord, tubing and shock cord.

If someone sold a kit for this would you be interested?

I climb with sticks and just use the hand climber for my platform.

I do the same, I can climb straight trees as if I was in a climber. I also can climb any tree with intermediate branches as well, as long as the tree isn't too wide.
