Just received my new post that is upgraded.

First thing I notice is they sent the new post with the original leveling bolt(not the upgraded one) and I can’t understand that, so I swap it out to the new one.

They sent a new bolt and 2 new washers. I can not for the life of me get the post and both washers in the hole.

Anyone have any tips here?

The black residue is the from my rubber hammer trying to beat it in place. Lol.

The platform is nice, but there are some SERIOUS QC issues.

We’re changing this to a “how to” haha.

Get it as straight as possible and beat the crap out of it with a rubber hammer and it’ll just bust it’s own hole through the rubber washer lol

I swapped mine. It was a tad difficult getting the washers in, but I just used the bolt and worked it through each spot.

Mine would not fit. It would not work in. I ended up sanding it down and then beating it in with the mallet. When I got it in far enough that I knew it was serving its purpose I Blair a flat bar on the back of the bolt and just busted a new hole in the washer.

Craziness.

When you say that they sent the original leveling bolt, not the new one, which piece exactly are you talking about?... The thumb screw that you turn by hand, or the steel dowel that moves in the channel? (Just wondering because my replacement should be here any day now)

They sent a new post with the bolt you twist and the steel dowel you're twisting to move the dowel. The thing that makes no sense to me is why would they send the post with a steel down and it be the one that's obsolete?

So I don’t know that answer, but I will give some information. I’ve got one of the earlier batch ambush that’s having the post replaced. I called and bought one of the wider dowels when I first bought the platform secondhand, because I thought that that piece might have been an issue since I was seeing the wider one on some peoples ambushes.

I recently bought one of the brand new ambushes with the engraving and the textured top, and it comes with the shorter dowel. So my only thought is that maybe that wider dowel wasn’t ever really an issue, and isn’t necessarily obsolete if they’re sending it out with the brand new platforms. I don’t see them purposely sending out a part that knowingly needs to be replaced on their new batches of stuff. If that were the case, they’d just delay shipping the platforms out until the good parts come in, like they’re doing on some of their pieces.

(I know that still doesn’t help you with trying to get that post wedged into that slot between those washers lol. I can’t wait to tackle that bear once my replacement post comes in)

You could have either (A) sanded both of the new washers down a little bit to take a little material off or (B) used one of the new washers and one of the old. I guess the rubber mallet works too.

I think I stuck with the original washers, which were a smaller outside dia. The new ones they sent would have stuck out.

I guess my point was just how everything is happening with the platform.

1st, you're sent a platform with a screw as the mounting system.
2nd, the leveling bolt(steel dowel) isn't right so they send another one of those out.
3rd, you need to take a grinder to the to teeth to make them bite in properly.
4th, the post that originally came with them is not strong enough and they ship a new one of those out, with the original leveling dowel that they replaced because it wasn't right.
5th, the new washers they send are thickers than the original ones so they don't slide in.

Even with all that said, I do believe it's a great platform, but It is crazy to think of how much is being replaced on a $300 platform. A little R/D would have saved them 1000's and 1000's of dollars in shipping alone.
