LWHC solution

I don't have pics of my repair but I left the crack exposed and reinforced with paracord the same directional plane then added a gorilla tape cover to make it more solid. Worked great so far and I can monitor the crack and change plans if needed.

This is the second one I have seen crack at this location. Might want to check yours out. The other guy was a small fella and exactly the same location. I think its probably due to a casting defect not abuse.
That is wild. I'll check mine out. I could see that happening if you strapped the platform solid and bounced on a front corner. Not saying you did that. I definitely don't bounce on mine. I think I subconsciously know it's not a strong piece of material. Always Tethrd in though.

Another option is to use JB weld epoxy. Here is a mod I did using a zip tie while I tested different angles. The zip tie is needed because JB weld will not permanently bond to aluminum unless you sand the surface prior to applying the epoxy. I ended up going with 40 degree angle and found it worked best for me.

Yeh I'm not worried about it just glad I checked it out.

Hey guys, now that my season is over i think i'm going to make at least one more LWHC vid. It's been a year since Part 3. Within the year i have been asked questions. Some i have answered and some i haven't yet. Do you guys have any thoughts on what i could show etc? I tried to keep the first vids short but this one can be longer so i can cover everything. Might be the last LWHC vid i do. (Might do a vid soon on E bikes, I'm getting one tmrw). I find i don't care how long vids are. If i have an interest, it's all good. Let me know... thanks

I agree. The length doesn’t matter if it great content. I watched al of @Nutterbuster vids.

@Adrena123 a nice list of materials with the lengths of each piece and bolts would help. I assume this is a mod to stabilize the platform when at hunting height but is this just to make it easier than just strapping the platform directly? I just got one of these and only got to mess with it 1 time so far so very curios.

Thanks for reaching out. If your referring to my bolt mod for the arms, it makes climbing up and down the tree more efficient etc.

Did I just read this right? Aluminum cracked, and you "reinforced" with paracord? Jesus.

Yeh it actually sounds worse than what it really is...LOL

It cracked out on the very end and its a through wall crack (separation) on basically a non load bearing part of the platform. The worst thing I could see happening would be to lose the corner square. I bounced on it and walked all over it at ground level and the only issue I really found was it was causing it to squeak when I stepped on that corner. The paracord is only to hold tension which eliminated the squeak. Its not held together by paracord its just eliminating the squeak. There was a casting defect (pin hole) in the thin section out on the end and it either was cracked all along or it cracked at some point while using it I'm really not sure. Either way it wasn't causing a failure or anything noticeable other then a noise if i really stepped hard on the far right corner. By tying it and cinching it tight with the paracord it solved that squeak.

I have hunted with 10-15 climbs since with no issues but now I inspect the rest of the platform more stringently and more often.
