I made stands like that years ago using car seat belts to attach to the tree. They worked great but we're heavy. The design could be scaled down for a saddle platform.

My dad made stands like that too, but his had a lot of wood as well and the base was wider for more stability. They were tanks. I was young but they must have weighed close to 25 lbs.
