Hello All,

Ok, been observing here off and on for some time now. I think I'm ready to dive in and give this a try. Could some one give me size suggestion for Mantis saddle? (6'4" 220lbs, athletic build)
Western PA, so hunting conditions run the table from hot to very cold. Also, hunt exclusively with 68" longbows. Would welcome comments from fellow trad hunters on shooting from a saddle...issues?

Thanks and look forward to learning more and contributing during my new journey.

Where do you live in western Pa? I live in beaver county

If you want to go on a little road trip, @Bigterp and myself are hosting the "Maryland saddle shootout live" on April 6th at a state park. Just about every commercial and diy saddle will be there. You can try them all out.

Would love to be able to attend but not sure if I can get away next weekend.

Likely will be more leaner than sitter but not sure? 34-36 waist but more like 36-38 with layers/hunting clothing. Thinking XL size to be safe but don't want to go too big either.

I would think an x large might be better but I could be wrong
I am 5 ‘10” 200 pounds 36 waist z

read this first....then determine how much clothing you will be wearing in the saddle....I'm 33 inch waist no butt athletic, and a medium fits great but during real cold days I wonder if I could have gotten a large and been ok? I think the micro adjusters would have really made a large fit me in early warm season hunting. I'm finding more comfort in a bigger saddle but that's just me!

I think an XL Mantis would be good

I’m 5-11 210# & 36 inch waist

For me Lg is good size for leaning but XL is better for sitting

The XL isn’t huge and actually isn’t a lot bigger than the L

An XL is still way smaller than the Medium TL ambushes I had and allows for leaning or sitting

The XL Mantis still rolls up and fits in my Sys halter with my tether rolled up under it

Thanks for all the info and suggestions guys. I'm still thinking XL might be best? More input always welcome.
