Marsupial Gear lumbar pack,belt, accessories

Does the lumbar style pack not bother you guys? I’ve ran a fanny pack and the platow pack but I can’t get past the way it sets over my saddle and dump pouches. It’s uncomfortable, pushes my saddle down, and doesn’t allow access to my dump pouches.

I now have a marsupial yoke, and a latitude ranger 11 on the way. That way I can hook the yoke straight to my saddle and run the small pack on the back molle of the yoke, and a couple tetherd ultralock pouches on my hips. It will be very similar to what @colin.704 shared on another post…
No bother at all! My preference is to run it a tad high and utilize it as my saddle suspension system. I detailed this in my pack modularity and integration thread.

Yeah I read that one, it’s a great thread. It appears like you have either the belt on your waist and the saddle hanging, or your saddle on your waist and the belt hanging at any given time? I’m just cutting out the belt and going straight to the saddle, with the ability to drop suspenders once I’m in the tree.

Actually it suspends my saddle right where I typically wear it! Only reason I went with the belt was I can carry stuff without having it on the saddle itself, and I can QD the saddle at any time.

I think the lumbar packs look cool but I don’t see the benefit to them in most applications for deer hunting. At a certain point with sticks/platform/layers it makes more sense to just carry a pack. I do see a one benefit being that all the gear is always accessible vs. a pack you have to take off to get to a lot of the stuff. Ideally I would like to walk up to the tree and start climbing without ever setting anything down

Could you add the bird bag or just bungee the clothes horizontally across the top or bottom? How would you carry your climbing method/platform? This would probably work great with a bolts set up or 2TC plus platform setup.

I went with the marsupial large bird bag so I wouldn’t have to take my pack off at tree. It works pretty well. I put one sticks and platform inside pouch. Pouch works well for carrying 2-3 cameras if scouting.

@bowhunthard88 cool thx for clarifying that. Guess I’ll see how this works for me, but I like not having anything on my saddle.
I'm with you! I want nothing on my saddle other than the basics required to be in a tree, and some rescue/backup. Tether, lineman's, haul/retrieval line, gear hanger, back band, knife, whistle, two extra carabiners, and an extra Beal Jammy. Everything else is carried elsewhere.

Any of ya'll ever give their lumbar pack and belt and yoke and accessory pouches a go?

I'm considering a lumbar style pack/fanny pack with shoulder straps deal for early season. Figured I'd start researching now to catch some after season sales/closeouts.

I'm interested in the actual space for the lumbar pack. How big is it, approximately? I know the website provides measurements but in real world use what are ya'll fitting in there?

I tried this set up for this year. great quality and it wears great into the woods but I didn't like trying to hang or strap it around the tree, too long and floppy for me.

Okay so I finally got all the parts in I needed to assemble my setup. Thanks for all the ideas/setups that guys have shared, it helped me dial in this setup and I love it. I have to give credit to @colin.704 for this idea that he shared on another thread, and answering my questions.

I am using different gear and attachments, but I assembled it based off of his setup. My version comes in at 13.2lbs with everything pictured, which is my entire one sticking setup and an empty pack. This setup is a Method 2 XL, Marsupial Yoke, Latitude Ranger 11 pack, and 2 tetherd ultralock pockets. I used 4 duraflex snap buckles to attach my pack. I found them cheapest at Mil-spec Monkey. The only modification I had to make was adding 4 webbing loops to my saddle for attachments, which I’ll post pics of. I can disconnect and reattach my pack without any trouble. That way I can hanger it on the tree when I get to height. Here are some picks of the setup, how/location of attachments, and the buckles I chose.

That’s freakin’ sweet. Nice job!
Thanks, Im still trying to figure out how I want my one stick secured. I want it tightly secured where it won’t hang up on brush or be dangling around while still accessible without any hassle. Fortunately I have until next season to do some trial and error to figure out what works best. And I’m always open to ideas lol

I really like the looks of this setup. This is really slick. Those ultralock pouches are huge!

Did you only have to add the webbing loops to attach the yoke? And is this where you added it?

If carrying a one stick, i would probably carry it vertically right up the middle of the pack, and use those straps to hold it.

@Black Titan yes I only added the 4 loops in order to attach the yoke. I used the two most forward molle loops on my saddle, and doubled over a peice of wedding to make a loop that I could clip into. I did the same thing in the back of my saddle so that the loops would be inline with the yoke and pack. I added the webbing because the existing molle was running the wrong direction.

The pockets are indeed massive. My right side has 40’ canyon civ, madrock w/beaner. My left side has ROS, HYS strap, back up tether, pull cord, and they both have room for more. I wasn’t sure at first because they are so big, but they are slim and operate 1 handed.

Cool deal. I used 4" molle snap button webbing strips to attach mine to. I'm not quite adept at sewing the webbing. My next Cobra will have dedicated yoke loops though. I'm really liking the way yours turned out. It's perfect for early season when I don't have to pack a bunch of layers and other stay warm stuff.

I’m not great at sewing either, however, the speedy stitch is awesome for small projects and dummy proof for someone like me.
