MD buck from the JX 3 at ground level

Hunted a field edge spot last night in MD. I was going to just sit on the ground under a tree in my JX-3 but there was a slight dip in the field and I really didn't have a good view from on the ground. So, I just found a tree and hooked up at ground level with my JX-3. Sitting up in the air a bit was enough to get me a good view and I like using the JX-3 bridge as a rest.

About an hour before last light a group of does came out and I shot the biggest at 65 yards. It was 38 degrees, so I decided to let her lay and see if anything popped out in the remaining time. About 30 minutes later a big group of does came out at 200 yards. Then, I pulled my binos and realized this buck was in with them. I got a good range at 215 yards. I have a winchester xpr in 350 legend (the county I hunt in MD only allows straight walled cartridges). He was quartering to and I put one through his neck and shoulder. It didn't pass thru but he dropped on the spot.

Sweet double you pulled off there. Love the extra white on the buck.

Man that’s a super cool buck, like the coloring. Is that common for that spot??
No and I've never seen him before. I'm thinking maybe he has a bit of piebald in him? His rack is funky too....I know piebald is a genetic defect so maybe that's why he has that color and his rack is weird. Anyway...thanks!

Congratulations, that is what I need to see. It's unheard of for me not to hunt opening day but I had an offroad trip (jeeps) last weekend in PA. It's been hot as you know so I have been working on the jeep this week.... Do you like allll my excuses?? :grimacing:
