Mesh saddles and cold weather

Not a new user, but am in the market for a new saddle.

I currently use a modded sit drag and rock climbing harness. I am wanting to get a " one and done" saddle, and need some insite.

I hunt in southern ohio, where the weather during the hunting season can change drastically. I've seen snow on Halloween, and have put up my Xmas tree in shorts and a t-shirt.

With that, who hunts in cold weather in a mesh saddle? How does it affect your ability to stay warm?

I hunt in the northern end of Michigan's lower peninsula. I have hunted the last two seasons using a Tethrd Mantis without any issues. I typically hunt right to Jan. 1st so I regularly hunt in single digit/low teens in the late season. I wear the same layers under the saddle that I wore hunting from a climber, including a set of wool bibs. My behind getting cold is usually the least of my worries. Toes and fingers always suffer first.

I'm with Boyne I hunt NH and use mantis as well I just wear good pair of long johns and 1 extra layer sometimes a heavy jacket, but never any extra layers on bottom half and stay toasty warm and yes hands and feet always suffer first haha. My temps are anywhere from low 30s to 0 work out wind chill in winter so gets fairly cold

I hunt in MN. The SBW heater that tethrd sells is great if you need a little extra insulation but you should have nothing to worry about. Your feet, legs, hands and other body parts will get too cold for comfort long before your backside.

For most of us, i think the backside probably has the most insulation...

Yep. I hunt SE ohio and my feet are always the first thing to freeze out. That's why I'm usually get out of the stand around 10 during gun season and try to slow walk through the woods. Butts usually just sore as mine don't have much padding and doesn't matter what I'm sitting in.

I'm in NW PA. Get yourself an SBW from Tethrd, or have something similar made, and your backside will be good to go on those cold sits.

Buy an iconX pneuma electric hunting vest before an SBW and some alpaca socks and merino underwear.

And carry stick on toe warmers, just apply when you need them. They last for hours.
