Hello, I'm curious what methods you guys and gals are using for pulling your gun up/down the tree when saddle hunting?
I've been laying the gun down on something "like a stick" with the barrel slightly upward so nothing gets into the barrel and then looping a rope around the scope and pulling it up horizontally, when dropping it down I try to have it land and lay in the same position as I had it before pulling it up. I have a new gun with a new scope on the way and wondering if pulling it up by the scope could hurt anything?
With a fixed stand and rope it isn't an issue because you can just have the rope short enough where the gun never touches the ground but with a saddle I bring my hoisting rope with me.
What are your methods?
