Michigan Brute Down

So did you know this buck was around or was this the first time you laid eyes on him? Also, Is he your personal best? Also, I'd love to know what he field dressed at? Can you tell I'm excited for you? :tearsofjoy:
No, I had no trail cam pictures of him, but that's okay, I'll take him anyway!:) I haven't put a tape on him yet but I have previously taken a 144" 10 pt. buck although that was with a firearm. I hung him on my scales and he weighed it at 225# field dressed. I checked a couple of online "deer weight calculators" to try to determine its live weight. They seem to go by the diameter of the bucks chest. My bucks chest measures 48" which shows a live weight at 340# however it also shows the dressed weight would be around 272#. Mine weighed 225 so when I compare the dressed weight with those shown on the charts, it looks like it probably weighed around 280 on the hoof. All of this surprises me because I would have sworn it weighed 800# when I was trying to get it out of the woods.o_O

What a beast! Great job on connecting and making a perfect shot!

Absolute stud of a buck. Congrats on the hunt and thanks for taking the time to share the story.

After dragging one out last year over 1/2 mile I decided I'd be quartering in place. Granted I know this isn't a possibility in some states/ locations.

Just saw this now!! Awesome buck! Great work! Congratulations and thanks for the pictures and excellent story!! Man O man its front hoof in the one picture looks like a cow hoof!!! That thing is a beefer for sure!!

A giant buck in Michigan… clearly he must be hunting in Eberhart’s scent lock suit and off of a ros to kill such a deer haha. Seriously though a heck of a buck.
